Information Minister: Running parliamentary elections on time is an expression of Syrians’ respect for their constitution

Damascus – Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi said on Thursday that running the parliamentary elections on time is an expression of the Syrians’ respect for their constitution, affirming that calling for these elections is governed by the rules of the Syrian constitution, SANA reported.

“Constitution is one legislative and legal source, and as long as it stipulated for running the elections, they should be done on time, and the government couldn’t deal with this issue in a selective way,” Minister al-Zoubi told Russian Sputnik news agency in an interview.

He added that the parliamentary elections in all states are run inside the country’s borders, not outside, whereas the presidential elections are done in the Syrian embassies and are governed by rules of the Syrian constitution.

Al-Zoubi affirmed that the Syrian state’s commitment to combating terrorism is a final and moral commitment, adding it is an adherence to rules of the international law too.
