Information Minister, Representative of UN Population Fund discuss areas of cooperation

Minister of Information, Dr. Boutros Al-Hallaq, discussed today with the representative of the United Nations Population Fund, Dr. Himyar Abdel-Moghni and the Assistant Representative of the Fund Omar Ballan areas of cooperation and the implementation of joint activities related to youth issues, encouraging the culture of volunteering, and promoting small projects.

During the meeting, the stages of implementing joint plans were addressed with regard to development, dealing with social networking sites, how to shape an image, and focusing on journalism to produce educational materials that contribute to spreading awareness among the public.

Minister Al-Hallaq stressed the importance of focusing on training journalists, to complete media materials and on research studies that have a positive impacts in order to build the correct media message, and assess the impact after carrying out any campaign.The representative of the fund, Dr. Himyar Abdel-Moghni, stated that the partnership with the Ministry of Information is strategic, especially in implementing the commitments of the Nairobi Summit for Development and Population, noting

 the importance of the role of the media in spreading awareness, especially in the light of the circumstances and the terrorist war that Syria has been facing.
