Information Minister: National media’s teamwork will play a key role in confronting media war

DAMASCUS, (ST)_information Minister Boutros Al-Hallaq has affirmed that the team work of the national media outlets will achieve victory in media war just as the Syria army has managed to achieve victory over terrorism. 
 
The minister’s remark, which was made on Sunday during a reception held at Al-Wehda Institute for Printing and Publishing on the occasion of the Syrian Press Day, is the first since his assumption of power and it came one day after the newly-appointed government was sworn in before president Bashar Al-Assad.  
 
“The next stage is for  work and  production, and  the media has a key role in supporting reconstruction and building, just as they did in stage of the restoration of security and stability,” the minister declared, according to the Syrian News Agency (SANA).  
 
The agency quoted Chairman of the Syrian Journalists Union Mousa Abdul Nour as saying that the journalists in Syria have performed their national and professional duty so they have been defending the unity of the Syrian territories against the injustice the war that has been waged on the country. 
 
More than 40 Syrian journalists have been martyred and 60 others wounded while they were covering the battles in many areas in Syria since 2011, according to information ministry.
