Information Minister, Grand Mufti meet Russian parliamentary delegation

DAMASCUS – Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi affirmed on Sunday that the Syrian media is fighting in a real battle against terrorism and performing huge missions to confront to misleading campaigns led by hostile media outlets.

During a meeting with Russian parliamentary delegation which is visiting Syria currently, al-Zoubi said that the Syrian media has a prominent role in clarifying the dimensions, objectives and components of terrorist war waged against Syria, hailing the sacrifices of Syrian media during the war, SANA reported.

 The minister expressed Syria’s appreciation for the Russian stances towards Syria during the current crisis, calling for enhancing bilateral relations in all sectors.

In turn, Head of the Russian delegation Sergei Gavrilov, who is Chairman of the State Duma’s Committee on Property Affairs, said that Russia and Syria are exposed to a fierce media war which requires strengthening joint efforts, hailing the role of Syrian media outlets in conveying the truth of what is happening on the ground.

Dimitri Sablin, a member of the Russian delegation said in a press statement following the meeting that the meeting is aimed at raising the level of coordination with all Syrian media outlets.

In a relevant context, Grand Mufti of the Republic Dr. Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun expressed Syria’s deep thanks to the Russian stances towards Syria during terrorist war waged against it.

Meeting the Russian Parliamentary delegation, Hassoun said that Syria will achieve victory due to its people’s sacrifices and the steadfastness of its army and leadership.
