Damascus – Information Minister Mohammad Ramez Tourjman affirmed that the national media was exposed during the crisis in Syria to a misleading campaign that aimed at distorting facts and events in it, employing money and technical capabilities to mislead the world public opinion with the participation of Arab and Western media outlets.
During a meeting with an Australian delegation headed by Rev. David Smith, the Minister pointed out that since the beginning, Syria warned the world about the danger of supporting terrorism in the region because it would form a threat to the whole world, and this is what has become clear recently, adding that combating terrorism requires joint efforts from everyone, SANA reported.
In turn, Rev. Smith expressed his fear that Australia will face a dangerous future linked to the spread of terrorism as a result of the Saudi money flow in it, adding that the Australian people realize the seriousness of the role played by some Australian media such as the ABC channel in misleading the public and distorting the reality of what is going on in Syria.
The delegation was also received by Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad, who briefed the delegation on the latest developments in Syria, mainly after the victory over terrorism in Aleppo city.
Mikdad said that the Syrian people are displeased with the participation of the Australian government in the alleged international coalition that targeted Syrian civilians and infrastructure in addition to its participation in the unjust Western sanctions which target the Syrians.
He affirmed that the Syrian government is determined to reach a political solution for the crisis in Syria via Syrian-Syrian dialogue and without external interference, in addition to continuing to combat terrorism.
The Deputy Minister expressed his surprise of the international silence over the crimes of the terrorists, the latest of which was cutting off drinking water from the six million citizens residing in the city of Damascus.
For his part, Rev. Smith affirmed his solidarity with the Syrians in combating terrorism, expressing his regret due to the Western governments’ aggression against Syria.
