Damascus, (ST) – The Ministry of Education and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Damascus held an artistic evening within the framework of cultural and educational cooperation between Syria and Indonesia, at the Al-Hurrya Institute Theater in Damascus.
The evening included a short film about culture and tourism in Indonesia, in addition to dance performances from Indonesian folklore and heritage, presented by the Indonesian “Portrait Kenana” troupe.
In a speech during the evening, Minister of Education, Dr. Darem Tabbaa praised Indonesia’s cultural and natural diversity and richness, and the ability of its people to transform science into life, especially in schools and universities, and to develop society, cooperation and spreading love to others.
In turn, the Indonesian ambassador to Damascus, Wajid Fawzi, drew attention to the depth of the historical and friendship relations that bind the two countries, and the keenness to develop them. He pointed out the importance of this evening in terms of the role of culture and art in strengthening relations between the two countries.
It is noteworthy that the evening also included an exhibition on the “batik” fabrics that Indonesia is famous for.
