Jakarta (ST) – Indonesian President Joko Widodo affirmed that his country will send more relief aid to support those affected by the earthquake in Syria.
President Widodo toured Halim airport in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, to inspect the relief and humanitarian materials to be sent to the earthquake victims in Syria and Turkey.
Two aid planes are heading to Damascus accompanied by an Indonesian government delegation as well as experts in disasters.
President Widodo stated in a statement during the tour: “We previously sent a shipment of foodstuffs and other necessary logistics to help those affected by the earthquake. We hope that the humanitarian diplomacy that our country is continuously carrying out will contribute to help our brothers there”.
Several ministers accompanied president Widodo in his tour in the airport.
For his part, Syria’s ambassador in Jakarta Abdel Moneim Annan, while accompanying the Indonesian president in the airport, expressed Syria’s gartitdude and appreciation for teh aid Indonesia has provided to those affected by the earthquake.
