Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Retno Marsudi has affirmed her country’s refusal to politicize the file of humanitarian aid to Syria, stressing Indonesia’s solidarity with Syria in facing the effects of the devastating earthquake.
During her meeting on Tuesday at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the new Syrian ambassador to Jakarta Abdel Moneim Annan, Marsudi said: Indonesia refuses to politicize humanitarian work during disasters. There are indications of media attempts to distort the facts regarding the delivery of Humanitarian aid to the affected people in Syria.
She pointed out that the two Indonesian humanitarian aid planes that were sent to Syria come within the framework of the historical relations between the two friendly countries, stressing that her country will provide more aid to Syria.
Annan thanked the Indonesian government for the assistance provided to the Syrian people to face the repercussions of the earthquake.
