Indonesia celebrates International Arabic Language Day

On December 23rd, the Indonesian Governmental University, Sharif Hedayatullah, celebrated the International Day of the Arabic Language under the title (The Arabic Language is a Present and a Civilization), with the participation of Syria.

In a speech during the celebration, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Syrian Embassy in Jakarta Abdel Moneim Annan said that the Arabic language is the main carrier of the national identity.

He pointed to Syria’s Arabization of education and higher education curricula, even in the sciences.

The celebration included a presentation of a short documentary film about the Israeli aggression on Gaza, and the university students presented a short play about the suffering of Palestinian women under the Israeli occupation.

At the end of the ceremony, the university honored Annan by gifting him its shield, in appreciation of his interaction with it despite the Corona pandemic.

The celebration was attended by some researchers and specialists in the Arabic language and a number of diplomats and Arab ambassadors.
