India voices solidarity with the Syrian people

NEW DELHI, (ST)-” India hopes the Syrian people will determine their future by themselves. The Indian government  voices  solidarity with the Syrian people against terrorism and hope of a peaceful solution to the crisis in Syria through Geneva 2 conference, “said Indian Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid.

Khurshid’s remark came during a meeting on Thursday with Presidential and Political Media Advisor Buthaina Shaaban.

During the meeting,Shaaban briefed Khurshid on  the latest developments in the Syria, the acts of terrorism targeting the civilians and infrastructure in the country and the attempts by some regional and international forces to hamper a political solution.

“Syria has a firm stance as regards  taking part in the proposed  Geneva  conference without preconditions ,”stressed Shaaban.

Shaaban voiced the Syrian government’s desire that India and the BRICS countries participate in the efforts to find a peaceful solution in Syria and taking an international position against terrorism.
