NEW DELHI, (ST)-India’s Minister of Minority Affairs Najma Heptulla has stressed India’s support for Syria in the confrontation of Terrorism.
Heptulla, who made the remarks during her meeting with Syria’s Mufti Badreddin Hassoun, said “fighting terrorism everywhere is an urgent need.”
She added that the forthcoming intra-Syrian dialogue in Geneva will hopefully come up with some results that would restore security and stability to Syria and preserve the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
On his part, Hassoun hailed India’s support for Syria in the face of terrorism and highly appreciated the Indian government’s stress on attaining political solution to crisis in Syria and on not interfering in the Syrian internal affairs.
Syria’s Mufti is visiting India at the invitation of “The Art of Living” international institution to take part in the 3rd World Culture Festival that concluded today and in which delegations from 150 countries participated.
In a speech at one of the festival’s activities on Saturday, Hassoun stressed that the Syrian people love life and peace and reject wars. They seek disseminating a message of amity and peace in the world, he said.
Hassoun also called for fighting the division policy adopted by the western countries to divide other countries as to weaken them and dominate their resources.
The Mufti hailed India’s old civilization and its current technological and economic development.
In another event, Hassoun met in New Delhi with the Syrian students in India and some representatives of the Syrian community there. He asserted the importance that the Syrians abroad take part in the reconstruction process in Syria.
