India reiterates support for political solution to crisis in Syria

New Delhi – India reiterated on Tuesday its stances in support of a political solution to the crisis in Syria and help Syria reconstruct the country and stop the war against it, SANA reported.

Undersecretary of Indian Ministry of External Affairs Anil Wadhwa, meeting Syria’s Ambassador in New Delhi, Dr. Riad Abbas, stressed the need for cooperation in fighting the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and terrorism phenomenon in the region, adding that India supports, as it has always been, the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Syria.

 

The Indian official expressed his country’s readiness to provide financial assistance to Syria and take part in the ongoing efforts to reconstruct Syria and make use of the suggested investment projects of gas and oil in the country.

For his part, Dr. Abbas expressed gratitude to the Indian people and government for supporting Syria at international forums, stressing keenness of the Syrian leadership on enhancing bilateral relations with New Delhi.
