Syria harvests 6 various medals at Fujairah International Taekwondo Championship

Abu Dhabi - Syria’s taekwondo team has harvested six various medals at Fujairah International Taekwondo Championship which will conclude activities on Monday.

Athletes Mohammad al-Fadli won a gold medal and Jana Saidawi won a silver medal at  the youths division while players Ahmed Sayyad and Aya Mubarak won two silver medals and player Aouj al-Zahabi won a silver medal at the cadets division and Shaza al-Yasin won a bronze medal at the juniors division.

Chairman of the Taekwondo Union said in a statement to SANA that “players of the national team had made a significant achievement in different age divisions in their first foreign participation for the current year despite the fact that 847players from 37 states are participating in the championship.”

Ghazal and Khribin named best athletes of 2017

 

Damascus – High jumper Majd Eddin Ghazal and football player Omar Khribin won the title of “Best Athlete of 2017” based on the of a referendum conducted by the sports journalists committee, with the participation of 66 journalists from different local media, SANA reported.

Ghazal ranked first, scoring 163 points, and female swimmer Bayan Jum’a 2nd with 67 points, while the 3rd place went to swimmer Firas Moualla, scoring 39 points.

In a similar referendum, Omar Khribin won the title of “Best Football Player” achieving 141 points, and 2nd place went to Omar al-Soumah (104 points) while Ibrahim Almeh came in the 3rd place with 64 points.

Syrian Football Federation agrees with German Coach Stang to train national team

Damascus - Syrian Football Federation said on Wednesday that it has reached an initial agreement with German Coach Bernd Stang to train Syria national team and supervise the Olympic team.

Salah Ramadan, Chairman of Syrian Football Federation said that “We have reached an initial agreement with Stang to train Syria national team until the end of Asia Final Cup that will be held in the UAE next year,” SANA reported.

Stang has trained several national teams and clubs including Oman and Iraq.

Equestrian Hamsho wins Grand Prix at Sharjah Int’l Show Jumping Championship

Abu Dhabi – The Syrian equestrian, Amr Hamsho, earned the Grand Prix at the Sharjah International Show Jumping Championship.

Hamsho won the competition after he jumped over (1.45) m barriers in (34.90) sec.

Meanwhile, Hisham Gharib, ranked third with (49.84) sec in (1.20) m category and ended in 6th place posting a (65.60) sec in (1.30) m category.

In a statement to SANA, Hamsho noted that the competition was strong across all categories especially with the participation of prominent equestrians from around the world.

Syria harvests gold and silver medals at Al Amal Table Tennis Championship

Amman - Syrian team for table tennis harvested a gold medal and a silver medal at Al Amal International Table Tennis U 12 Championship which concluded activities on Friday evening in the Jordanian capital of Amman.

18 male and female players participated in the championship representing the teams of Syria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Bahrain, Qatar and Oman.

Syrian promising player Hind Zaza won the gold medal after she ranked first in the Championship as she won six matches 3-0 in female category while Syrian player Abdullah Hajaj, 9 years old, ranked second in male category winning the silver medal.

In a statement to SANA, Coach of the Syrian team Adham Jum’an said that the results achieved in the first external participation in 2018 are considered as an important achievement and a new starting point that will raise the morale of the other categories to exert more effort.
