National Football Team Loses 0/2 to Jordan in 2019 AFC Asian Cup

ABU DHABI- Syria’s national football team on Thursday lost 0-2 to its Jordanian counterpart within the second round of second group stage of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup, SANA reported.

The Jordanian team leads the group with 6 points followed by the Syrian team , the Palestinian team with one point, and finally the Australian team without points waiting for the result of the match due to be held on Friday between the Australian and Palestinian teams.

Syria’s First Match in 2019 AFC Asian Cup Group Stage Ends in a Draw

ABU DHABI– The Syrian national football team’s first match in the group stage of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup with the Palestinian team ended on Sunday in a draw 0-0.

The Syrian team is competing in Group B in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup currently being held in the UAE, facing Australia, Palestine, and Jordan, according to SANA.

Syria will face Jordan in its next match on Thursday, and will face Australia on January 15th.

Syria wins two silvers, bronze at Karate International Championship, Russia

Moscow - Syrian Karate team won two silver medals and a bronze medal at the Karate International Friendship Championship currently held in Russia.

The two silver medals were won by athlete Diana Mohammad at the competitions of 68kg category and in the free weight competitions while the bronze medal was harvested by Khalil Salman at the competitions of the U-75 kg category.

Chairman of the Syrian Karate Union told SANA that the championship is one of the most important championships and that winning three medals in it by the end of the current year is a good achievement that will be an incentive for winning more medals in the foreign participations in the future.

He added that the Syrian team only participated with athletes Khalil Salman and Diana Mohammad.

Syria Wins 36 Medals in Total at Two Weightlifting Championships in Cairo

CAIRO-Syria’s weightlifting team won a total of 36 medals in the Arab Weightlifting Championship and the Weightlifting Championship of Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF) in Cairo, SANA reported.

Al-Soma among ’10 of the Best’ competing for Asian Cup 2019 UAE Top Scorer

Kuala Lumpur - The Syrian striker Omar al-Soma is among the ’10 of the Best’ competing for Asian Cup 2019 UAE Top Scorer scheduled to be held next January 5, 2019, SANA reported.

The list of top 10 players, announced on the website of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC ), included the Syrian football player al-Soma besides 9 other players.

The 29-year-old Al-Soma has achieved with Syria’s team remarkable results in the World Cup qualifiers where he scored decisive goals. Al Soma was the top scorer of the Saudi Al-Ahli Club for three consecutive season.

According to the-afc website, al-Soma will compete with UAE’s Ahmed Khalil, Iran’s Sardar Azmoun, DPRK’s Hwang Ui-Jo, Australia’s Martin Boyle, Japan’s Takumi Minamino, Jordan’s Hamza Al-Dardour, Thailand’s Teerasil Dangda, Philippines’ Philippe Yonghsband and Qatari Al-Moez Ali.

The UAE’s Ali Mabkhout was crowned as top scorer of the 2015 AFC Asian Cup in Australia.
