Independent states urged to help restore peace in region

Tehran– Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Tuesday deplored imposing conflicts on nations by cetain states, saying that the independent states must help stop bitter events in the region.

The Supreme Leader made the remarks in a meeting with Slovenian President Borut Pahor.

The Supreme Leader deplored the fact that meddling of certain states in internal affairs of other countries in western Asia has led to creation of terrorist groups such as Daesh, according to IRNA.

The Leader said there are two viewpoints about why the so-called US-led anti-Daesh coalition has not been successful.

The first viewpoint says that the US has no plan to uproot Daesh terrorist group just like what the UK did during colonialism on India to keep Kashmir as source of conflict between the two neighboring states of India and Pakistan, the Leader said adding that certain powers seek the issue of Daesh in Iraq and Syria to remain unresolved to attain their sinister goals.

According to the second viewpoint, the US wishes to resolve the issue of Daesh but their mechanism does not lead to that conclusion.

The Leader expressed deep concern about deterioration of humanitarian situation in Iraq and in Syria, saying that the people in the region are suffering from bloodshed and destruction of houses.

The European countries have decided to shelter some tens of thousand Syrian refugees but Iran has sheltered about three million Afghan nationals and even provided them with education and life standards and treated them humanly, the Supreme Leader said.

Independent states should thwart such bitter events and avoid to put pressure on one nation making it exposed to humanitarian disaster, the Supreme Leader said, adding that such an approach is a pain for the entire humanity.

Highlighting suitable grounds and facilities for expansion of cooperation between Iran and Slovenia, the Supreme leader expressed the hope that negotiations would lead to fruitful outcome.

The Supreme Leader criticized the United States for reneging on its commitments to the nuclear deal, saying that the Islamic Republic of Iran has fully implemented its pledges with regards to the JCPOA.

President Hassan Rouhani was present in the meeting.

Slovenian president said for his part that negotiations with Iranian officials were very fruitful.

‘We are looking to deepen all-out relations with Iran.’

He said that Iran is regarded as the pillar of stability and security in the region and praised the country’s performance during nuclear talks with the western powers.

Slovenia and Iran share common grounds in many economic fields, he said.

Iran is a very good friend for Slovenia and we see reopening of the Slovenian embassy in Iran is a wise decision, the Slovenian president said.
