On July 20th, the Honorary General Consulate of the Republic of Paraguay inaugurated in the Free Zone in Damascus, as part of the efforts exerted to strengthen and develop relations between Syria and Paraguay.
In a speech after the opening ceremony and raising the Paraguayan flag in front of the consulate, the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Ayman Sousan, said that the opening of the consulate will strengthen friendship ties between the two countries and opening promising prospects for cooperation between them in various fields.
Dr. Sousan pointed out that Syria, based on its belief in establishing the best relations with all countries of the world on the basis of respect for the sovereignty of states and non-interference in their internal affairs, is keen to strengthen these relations in a way that achieves the mutual interests of all peoples.
Dr. Sousan said that the opening of the consulate represents a celebration of friendship with Paraguay, whose bridges have been extended by the expatriate sons of Syria in Paraguay and throughout Latin America.
For his part, President of the Paraguayan Senate, Oscar Solomon Fernandez, affirmed that the opening of the consulate in Damascus will contribute to strengthening relations with Syria.
Fernandez said that the Senate will provide all possible assistance for the success of the consulate’s work and the performance of the tasks entrusted to it.
The Honorary Consul of the Republic of Paraguay in Damascus, Muhammad Qattan, explained that the opening of the consulate is a dedication to the developed relations between the two friendly countries.
Qattan stressed the importance of the consulate’s role in strengthening and developing diplomatic, political and economic relations between the two countries.
The opening was attended by Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection Dr. Amr Salem, and Deputy Speaker of the People’s Assembly Muhammad Akram Al-Ajlani.
