In a humanitarian initiative, Syrian expatriate cardiologist performs 7 heart surgeries in a hospital in Homs

Motivated by his humanitarian and moral duty, the Syrian expatriate cardiologist Murhaf Ibrahim carried out a humanitarian initiative by performing 7 heart surgeries at one of the hospitals in the Syrian city of Homs. He managed to implant pacemakers in 7 patients.

The initiative comes within the framework of the support being provided by the Syrian expatriates to their fellow citizens in their motherland in the light of the difficult economic circumstances in the country.

Concerning his initiative, Dr. Murhaf Ibrahim told SANA that he always wanted to contribute to easing some of the suffering of the citizens in his homeland, particularly under the difficult economic circumstances Syria is currently passing through. This motivated him to carry out a humanitarian initiative whose idea was created during his visit to Syria in 2021. In 2022, Dr. Ibrahim managed to implant two pacemakers in cooperation with Al-Areen association, which secured the hospital and the patients, and this year, he managed to implant pacemakers in 7 patients.

“Seeing the patients recovering after the surgeries supported my feeling of love and giving. Implanting the pacemakers means a new life to the patients, particularly in the light of the lack of proper medications and the high cost of implantation,” he clarified.

Dr. Ibrahim affirmed that the Syrian expatriates’ love and loyalty to their homeland always push them to keep in touch and extend a helping hand to their fellow citizens no matter how far they are from the motherland.

He called on the Syrian expatriates to provide everything that would help and alleviate the suffering of citizens in the homeland.

Dr. Muraf Ibrahim graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Damascus University in 2004. He specialized in Cardiology in universities in Texas, Alabama and Florida in the United States. He is board-certified in arrhythmias and heart diseases.
