Imposing European sanctions on Iranian individuals and institutions, is an unconstructive measure, says Kanaani

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani strongly condemned the decision of the European Union Council of Foreign Ministers to impose sanctions on some Iranian individuals and institutions. He described it as an unconstructive measure.

Kanaani on Tuesday said in a statement: The efforts undertaken by some malicious movements, with specific political goals, to spread false information, in addition to adhering to ineffective sanctions tactics have not achieved any goals for the sanctions-imposing parties, but rather increase the obstacles in the way of relations between Iran and Europe.

Kanaani added: The European Union talks about international law and the United Nations Charter, while in fact it practically turns a blind eye, to the most dangerous violation of the principles of international law, including human rights and international humanitarian law and the commission of genocide and ethnic cleansing against the oppressed Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank, and deliberately fails to take effective measures to stop the barbaric attacks launched by the usurping Zionist entity.

Kanaani pointed out, that imposing sanctions in the field of defense industries, on Iran, lacks any basis. He stressed that his country reserves the right to respond to such sanctions.

Yesterday, the European Union imposed sanctions on some Iranian figures and institutions, working in the development and production of drones, claiming that Iran is supplying them to Russia for use in Ukraine.
