Importance of Deepening Social Values and Upgrading Education Highlighted

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Vice President Najah al-Attar has stressed the importance of deepening social values and morals and of upgrading education to rebuild human beings in the light of the campaigns which aim at distorting awareness and intellect in the region.

During her meeting on Wednesday, Patriarch Youanna X Yazigi of Antioch and All East for Greek Orthodox said the coming era is that of rebuilding Syria, adding that the process of building human beings is a priority so there is a need to enhance cultural and intellectual development and expand education to achieve the hoped-for progress.

 The two sides affirmed the role of diverse religious institutions together with cultural institutions in consolidating the values of national belongingness which has proved to be strong in the face of social fragmentation by enemies.

They also talked about the hypocrisy of the West in dealing with humanitarian issues in the region, noting that this hypocrisy is clear in the West’s ignoring of the inhuman practices of the Israeli occupation against the Palestinians.
