Impacts of cutting off water supplies to citizens in Hasakah by Turkish regime discussed

Governor of Hasakah Ghassan Khalil and Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) office in Syria Akjemal Magtymova discussed during a meeting on Monday the impacts of cutting off water supplies to more than a million citizens in Hasakah by the Turkish regime and its mercenaries, reiterating that such crimes will result in water-transferred diseases and pandemics.

Citizens in Hasakah assess the performance of the international community and humanitarian organizations during the current period through the availability of water. If water is not available, then these organizations are not working properly,” the governor said in a statement to journalists following the meeting.

The health sector in Hasakah is suffering from the aggressive practices of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) militia which has seized most of the province’s hospitals, clinics and health centers and put them out of service in order to deprive the citizens from the free health services provided to them by the government, the governor added.

On her part, Magtymova expressed the WHO’s concern about the impact of cutting off drinking water to Hasakah, saying “we are working hard to make sure of the quality of the transferred water.”

Magtymova stressed that the WHO will continue its efforts to deliver the Coronavirus vaccine to Hasakah province and it is currently cooperating with the Syrian Health Ministry to ensure enough quantity of vaccines so that all the citizens can receive it.

She pointed out that the WHO has provided 330 tons of medical aid to Hasakah during the past year.
