ICATU Calls on all Syrian Parties to Launch Dialogue

Cairo, (ST) – The International Confederation of Arab Trade Unions (ICATU) Central Council has condemned the acts of terrorism perpetrated by armed terrorist groups against Syria and Iraq, describing them as a serious threat to the social fabric of the two countries.

In a statement issued at the conclusion of its Fourth Ordinary Session, the ICATU’s Central Council urged the Syrian government and opposition to launch political dialogue being the only way to solve the crisis in Syria and to put an end to bloodshed. The statement also stressed the Council’s rejection of any foreign interference in Syria’s internal affairs.

Besides, the statement called on all Palestinian forces to end divisions, settle their disputes, deepen national unity and enhance the performance of the Palestinian Liberation Organization so as to serve of the Palestinian cause and push the international community to work hard to release the Palestinian and Arab prisoners and detainees in the Israeli jails and to confront the Israeli Judaization policies in occupied al-Quds.

The Council also stressed the need to support Lebanon and help the country preserve its national unity. It urged the Lebanese people to resist all attempt to sow sedition among the Lebanese and to consolidate their national unity in the confrontation of foreign interference and Zionist aggressions  

The Council commended the Lebanese national resistance’s achievement represented in violating the Israeli airspace which caused a great shock to the Zionist entity.

During its session, the Council reviewed the socio-economic problems of Arab countries, stressing the importance of upgrading the role of the Arab unionist movement in defending unionist rights and freedoms in the Arab homeland.
