ICATU: Blockade on Syria exacerbates the Syrians’ suffering due to the deadly earthquake

Damascus, (ST) – The General Secretariat of the International Federation of Arab Trade Unions (ICATU)  has called on all trade union centers and international and regional trade union federations and Qatari organizations asked  for practical measures to lift the unjust and unjust siege imposed on Syria and its people. They also called for providing urgent humanitarian assistance in all its forms to achieve rapid response to the huge needs in the event of a disaster.

The federation clarified that the continuation of the blockade in such circumstances by forces that claim human rights protection is a heinous crime and a curse that will pursue its perpetrators forever.

The Federation said in a statement about the catastrophe of the devastating earthquake, a copy of which SANA received today that a major humanitarian catastrophe befell the Syrian Arab people, as a result of the devastating earthquake that struck northwestern Syria at dawn last Monday, which left widespread destruction in major cities, leaving hundreds of victims and thousands wounded and missing, in addition to the thousands of residents of cities hit by the earthquake, who became homeless as a result of this great event.

The Federation thanks the countries and organizations that took the initiative to provide aid of all kinds, calls upon all Arab and foreign governments and organizations to expedite the provision of the necessary assistance to the Syrian government and to enable the Syrian Arab people to overcome the effects of this disaster.

In its statement, the International Federation of Arab Trade Unions called on Arab workers to raise their collective voice to awaken the world’s conscience to a tragedy that is renewed every morning, caused by an immoral blockade that affects the poor segments and all the people of Syria and affected all levels of their professional and living lives, and exacerbated the exceptional circumstances caused by the natural disaster emerging.

Workers’ Union: International labor organizations should pressure to lift the siege on Syria

On the other hand, the General Confederation of Trade Unions in Syria called on the United Nations, the International Labor Organization and all labor organizations around the world to stand with those affected by the humanitarian catastrophe that Syria was exposed to as a result of the devastating earthquake, and to pressure to lift the siege imposed by Western countries on the Syrian people.

In a statement, SANA received a copy of it today, the General Confederation of Trade Unions appealed to the United Nations, the International Labor Organization and all labor organizations around the world to stand sincerely with this humanitarian catastrophe, and to put pressure on the Western countries that impose the siege on the Syrian people to lift this unjust siege.

In its statement, the Union called on all free people in the world to stand up for their humanity, and to stand with the Syrian people in support and assistance in these exceptional circumstances. It expressed its thanks and appreciation to all trade union organizations in the Arab world and the world, which expressed their solidarity with the suffering of the Syrian people as a result of the devastating earthquake, which expressed for its readiness to provide assistance to the Syrian people in these difficult circumstances.
