“ I Draw my Dream “ society for fine Arts in Lattakia holds its seventh festival

Art is very important to young children. It gives them a way to let out their feelings and ideas. Children can learn a lot through art. As children draw and paint , they are learning about their world (colors, shapes, and sizes of objects).  Art allows children to make choices and  opens up new worlds for them  and gives them a variety of important experiences.

With the aim of supporting and enhancing the children’s creative artistic  talents, “ I Draw my Dream ” Society for Fine Arts in Latakia Province held its seventh festival at Dar Al-Assad for Culture  there in cooperation with Lattakia’s Directorates of Culture and Social Affairs and Labor .

“Nearly  72 participants took part  in the opening of the activities of the cultural event which   included art exhibition for children, adolescents and youths  and open -free drawing  workshops  for children with the aim of promoting love, art and self-confidence” the plastic artist Mrs. Hiyam Salman,  Head of “ I draw my Dream” society  for fine art said in a statement to the Syriatimes  e-newspaper.

“ With the aim of highlighting the key role of the Syrian woman in supporting her family, the festival included  an exhibition  for a number of women on recycling clothes, healthy food, artworks of  shells, soap making, cosmetics and accessories from natural materials” artist Salman added.The three-day cultural event was characterized by  a play and fashion show  both done by children of the society.

The  stage actress and director Reem Nabe’a, who trained the children  to perform the play on  the importance of nature, told Syriatimes “ Today’s performance  is the culmination of  3 months of children’s practice  . They were  very enthusiastic  because they are the heroes of the theater today and they did their best to express their talent  on the stage”.

She referred to the society’s role in spreading the culture of theater and plastic art, indicating  that theater is not only an image, it  teaches us social communication with the other, expression, and breaking the barrier of fear among children”.

“ We seek to spread the culture of the word. We are fighting guns  with art,  word and  color. Art  has a close relationship with civilization, and our country  Syria was and still  the cradle of civilization” the stage actress concluded.

The participant  Amal Hussein from  AL-Raqqa  governorate , expressed her happiness with her  permanent participation in the society’s festival to  display her handmade  products  including decorative things , table covers   and displayed  a painting on the heritage of Al-Raqqa including old housed  and Arabic coffee pot (dallas).

In turn, Sham Sabbouh, 12 years old, was very excited about  her participation in the theatrical performance and fashion show standing on the stage and watching the audience applaud for her.

She also participated in a painting on  rural heritage that includes the use of a well, a women baking , and others picking olives in addition to  old rural  houses,  expressing  her dream to become a famous  stage actress and artist.

 9-year-old participant  Yara Hassan’s painting was on the sun as it is , according to her, the source of light , energy and heat.  She used  yellow to express  the color of the sun and blue to embody the color of the sea and the sky.

In turn, Raghad Mustafa, Julnar Shahoud and Alissar Salhab, who  attended drawing courses in the society and now  are  in turn trainers at the society,  expressed their happiness and pride in the exhibition “Through Portraits” for  famous international artists .

They stressed  that portraiture is the mirror of the soul and feelings and art  is a window for children to express their own vision, as each child has his own ideas and his world.
