Hungarian academic & Omani writer: Presidential elections in Syria are the sovereign right of its people

Budapest-Muscat (ST): Hungarian academic and researcher Daniel Shugour affirmed that the presidential elections in Syria are a sovereign right for the Syrian people, and no country in the world or  international organization has the right to obstruct it.

The Hungarian writer and academic said in an interview with news correspondent in Budapest that Syria is victorious these days over the conspirators against it, and with these elections it is taking its first steps on the way out of the crisis there.

Shugour strongly condemned the fact that some countries that speak out in defense of democracy and human rights have interfered in the internal affairs of a sovereign state, occupied parts of its territory, exercised aggression against it, and imposed inhuman punishments on its people, describing these practices as international hypocrisy that reveals the truth of these countries and their arrogant nature.

The Hungarian academic also referred to the fact that preventing Syrians abroad from participating in the presidential elections by many Western and regional countries constitutes a contradiction to international positions that affirmed that the only solution to the crisis in Syria is political.

In turn, Omani journalist and writer Salim bin Mohammad bin Ahmed al-Abri stressed the importance of presidential elections in Syria. On the occasion of the presidential elections in Syria the the Omani journalist and writer saluted in a special message steadfastness and victory of Syria and its people in the face of the global terrorist plot and the brutal economic war waged against it, pointing out that all of this will not prevent the Syrian people from exercising their national constitutional rights and participating in the presidential elections, which are a manifestation of sovereignty and constitutional commitment.

Al-Abri concluded his message by saying: “We look forward to the struggle of the Syrian people and their endeavors to defend their rights and national sovereignty and to strengthen the building of their independent, fair and national state.
