Hundreds of wounded and dozens of detainees due to Israeli attacks on Palestinians

Residents of the Occupied Jerusalem, Gaza Strip and the west Bank took part in massive demonstrations in support of Jerusalem in the face of the systematic attacks of the occupation to implement its plan to Judaize it and displace Palestinians from it. Hundreds of Palestinians were injured and dozens were arrested during the past three days as a result of the Israeli occupation forces’ continuous attacks on Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem and the rest of the West Bank and the besieged Gaza Strip.

Member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization Wasel Abu Youssef confirmed to SANA reporter that the Israeli occupation is practicing  criminal escalation against the Palestinians in the occupied city of Jerusalem since the beginning of the month of Ramadan and providing protection of settlers to escalate their incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque and the old city. This escalation will increase the Palestinian people’s  steadfastness to continue the struggle to regain their full rights and defeat the occupation as well as to thwart the plans of Judaization and displacement.

Abu Yusef called on the United Nations and the UN Security Council to provide international protection for the Palestinian people and to stop the occupation crimes against them and their land and sanctities.

For her part, a member of the Political Bureau of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Maryam Abu Daqqa, noted that the Palestinian people are fighting a heroic battle to defend the identity, history and civilization of the city of Jerusalem. She confirmed that the massive uprising that broke out in the face of the occupation is confirmation that the battle of Jerusalem is the battle of the entire Palestinian people and that national rights and constants are not subject to bargain and that protecting  the sanctities is part of Palestinian people’s steadfastness.

Abu Daqqa criticized the silence of the international community towards the ongoing occupation crimes against the Palestinians, noting that the bombing of the Gaza Strip with artillery and aircraft is part of the occupation’s plans to expand the aggression against the Palestinian people, encouraged in this by the absence of any international pressure on it to stop its attacks.

In turn, the Secretary-General of the Palestinian National Initiative, Mustafa Barghouti, stated that what is happening in Jerusalem and all the Palestinian territories is a massive popular uprising in the face of the occupation’s racism and repressive practices in the city of Jerusalem and its continuous violations against Al-Aqsa Mosque.

For his part, the Undersecretary of the Palestinian Ministry of Endowments Hussam Abu Al-Rab indicated that the occupation targets the Palestinian presence in the occupied city of Jerusalem by shooting  and arresting people and  storming and demolishing their homes as well as its continuous attempts to prevent prayer in the Al-Aqsa Mosque and provide protection for settlers to storm Palestinian neighborhoods.

Abu al-Rub affirmed that Jerusalem is a Palestinian land and that the occupation can’t target its  people and sanctities and  cannot change the  identity and history of Jerusalem.
