Hundreds of Persons, Including Repentant Gunmen, Got Their Legal Status Settled

DAMASCUS COUNTRYSIDE, (ST)- More than 600 hundred persons from the towns of Zakieh and Darkhabieh in Damascus Countryside province,  including 250 gunmen who have surrendered to authorities and handed over their weapons, have got their legal status settled in accordance with Amnesty Decree No. 15 for 2016, according to SANA reporter.

Some 700 people from al- Tibeh, al-Kisweh and al-Mqelbieh towns in Damascus western countryside have also had their legal status settled within the framework of the local reconciliation process being implemented in different parts of the country.

During his meeting with a Czech parliamentary delegation recently visited Syria, Minister of National Reconciliation Ali Haidar said local reconciliation deals in Syrian areas go in parallel with the army’s military operations against terrorists organizations nationwide.

” Over 80 areas joined the reconciliation project and status of 80.000 persons was regularized in accordance with presidential amnesty decrees ,” Haidar clarified.

He also talked about the positive effects of the reconciliation process, indicating that foreign intervention and the spread of terrorist groups hinder the implementation of some reconciliation deals.

The minister unveiled that status of a huge number of gunmen and wanted persons will be regularized in the next 10 days. “Areas in the western countryside of Damascus and in Quneitra countryside will join the reconciliation project”.
