Hundreds of Families Return to Liberated City of Daraya in Damascus Countryside

DAMASCUS COUNTRYSIDE – The past few days witnessed the return of hundreds of families to their houses in Daraya city, on the southwestern outskirts of Damascus, after years of displacement and suffering due to the atrocities and sabotage acts perpetrated by the terrorist groups, according to SANA.

None of that would have been possible without the heroic achievements of the Syrian army in fighting terrorism and liberating more areas as well as the facilitations and efforts exerted by the Syrian government to enable those who were forced to leave their towns to return.

Speaking to SANA reporter, a number of returnees expressed their relief and they were pride of the sacrifices made by the Syrian army to defend the homeland, defeat terrorist groups and restore security and stability to their towns and villages.

Up to 500 families have returned to Daraya city over the past 5 days, according to Head of Municipal Council in Darya, Marwan O’beid. They began to remove the debris from their houses and rehabilitate what has been destroyed.

O’beid said that the maintenance teams have almost finished rehabilitation of water supply and distribution networks, adding that 3 electrical transformers have been installed to meet the increasing demand on power.

He noted that 4 schools have been rehabilitated with a capacity of around 4000 students, indicating that there are 10 schools under construction and rehabilitation.

The health center in the city is ready to receive patients and it is equipped with well-qualified medical team.
