Humanitarian Aid Delivered to Civilians in Eastern Ghouta

DAMASCUS COUNTRYSIDE, (ST)- A humanitarian aid convoy entered Eastern Ghouta Friday morning under the supervision of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) to be delivered to the civilians trapped by the terrorists of Jabhat al-Nusra and its affiliated groups operating in Ghouta.

SANA reporter in Mukhayyam al-Wafedin said the convoy, which consists of 13 trucks carrying food and relief aid that can serve 12 thousand people, is presented jointly  by SARC, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the United Nations.

According to the ICRC, additional supplies, including medical material,  are to be sent in a bigger convoy next week.

Last Monday, a humanitarian aid convoy of 46 trucks entered Eastern Ghouta to distribute aid to civilians besieged by terrorists there within the framework of the monthly plan to deliver humanitarian aid agreed upon in coordination with the Higher Relief Committee in the Syrian Arab Republic.

The Syrian government secured a humanitarian corridor for trapped civilians to leave eastern Ghouta, but the terrorist groups prevent civilians from exiting the area through the safe corridor leading to Mukhayyam al-Wafedin in order to use them as human shields.

The terrorists today fired against cars carrying civilians who tried to leave through the humanitarian corridor which was opened yesterday between Jisreen area and Mleiha.

The foreign-backed terrorists in estaern Ghouta shell residential neighborhoods in Damascus on a daily basis causing the martyrdom and wounding of civilians including women and children.
