Human rights organizations calls on the UN to investigate into US police violence

Geneva (ST): A number of human rights organizations called today on UN Human Rights Council to start an investigation into the US police violence in suppressing protests in the United States.

About 600 legal organizations have called for holding a special session for the Council which joins 47 states.

The organizations expressed concern that US President Donald Trump exploited his post to spread  tension as a weapon instead of  using it to achieve unity and tranquility.

They also referred to the violent reaction of the US police towards the peaceful protests and the use of rubber-coated bullets , gas bombs live ammunition which constitute a violation of international norms.
