Human Rights Council adopts a resolution in favor of Palestine

Geneva, (ST) – During its 52nd regular session, the United Nations Human Rights Council adopted a resolution in favor of Palestine under the second item of its agenda on the human rights situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, including the city of Al-Quds (Jerusalem), and the necessity of ensuring accountability and justice.

Wafa News Agency stated that 38 countries voted in favor of the resolution and two countries against it, Malawi and the United States of America, and seven countries abstained from voting.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the international consensus and positive vote on decisions related to Palestine at this time is a form of rejection of the practices and crimes committed by the occupation forces and settlers against the Palestinian people.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed out that it will work hard to put these decisions into effective steps, in order to hold the Israeli occupation authorities accountable and work to protect the Palestinian people and implement and respect the international law in the Palestinian territories.

The Ministry also called on the international community and its institutions to work to hold the occupation authorities accountable and hold the Israeli war criminals accountable. It stressed that the policy of double standards and selectivity in implementing the rules of international law will undermine the law-based international order.
