Huge crowds taking part in the funeral of Gen Soleimani and al-Muhandis

BAGHDAD, (ST)- Thousands of Iraqis gathered at al-Kadhimiyah district in Baghdad to join the funeral of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, the commander of Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, Deputy Commander of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), who were martyred Friday at dawn after US airstrikes targeted their car on Baghdad International Airport road.

The participants carried pictures of Soleimani and al-Muhandis and chanted slogans condemning the US crime of assassinating  the two resistance leaders.

Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi, a number of Iraqi MPs and leaders in the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) also took part in funeral ceremony.

 Yesterday, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Iran Sayyed Ali Khamenei vowed harsh revenge against those who assassinated Commander Major General Qassem Soleimani.
