Homs: Cycling race held to raise awareness for early detection of cancer

Homs (ST): The branch of the Syrian Society for Combatting Cancer in Homs concluded their activities related to raising the awareness towards breast cancer ( the Pink Month activities) by holding a cycling race with the participation of youths from various areas in the governorate.

The race started from the New Clock Square in the centre of the city. The participants toured many neighborhoods in the city including Ekrema, al-Dablan and al-Ghouta before returning to the starting point where symbolic gifts were distributed to the participants.

A number of the participants said that these activities prove the effective role played by youth in society, stressing that the event aimed to call for preserving people’s health and combatting cancer.

Chairman of the Syrian Society for Combatting Cancer, Homs Branch, Dr. Zahi al-Shawaf said that several activities were held in the city including lectures and workshops to raise the awareness of people towards the importance of early detection of cancer.
