HOMS, Aug.21, (ST)- The workshops of the Homs City Council have already begun the process of installing the structure of the old clock in the Martyrs’ Square in the heart of the city after the completion of the maintenance and rehabilitation work in the square.
The Director of Works in the Council, Haider Al-Waari, said in a statement to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SNA) that the rehabilitation works of the old clock square, or what is known as Martyrs’ Square, began last year in cooperation with civil society as part of the council’s plan to improve and beautify the city’s landmarks.
He pointed out that the work of preparing the square includes raising the base of the clock which is an area of about 220 cm, so that it is visible from all axes, due to the historical importance of the city.
A distinctive design of green areas, water basins and lighting under the supervision of specialized engineers will also be prepared.
