Homeland wounded athletes shine at the 2nd Paralympic Games

The 2nd Paralympic Games concluded its competitions in Damascus with the participation of more than 100 Syrian wounded athletes from different Syrian governorates and some war wounded personnel from Iraq. 9 Syrian athletes representing special sports took part in the competitions.

The athletes competed in swimming, physical strength, athletics, badminton, table tennis and basketball among other sports.

During the competitions, the Syrian wounded athletes achieved advanced positions and scored notable gains that proved their unwavering will to continue living despite challenges.

The athletes were chosen according to approved criteria and classifications for sports made last month in different Syrian provinces.

The competitions come within the framework of the support provided by the “Jareeh Watan” “Homeland Wounded” project for various sport activities by the wounded with the aim of enhancing the participation of the wounded in society, strengthening their physical abilities and enabling the wounded to confirm their presence in the Syrian sport as well as in international contests.
