Holding the glorious Easter Mass at the Mariam Orthodox Cathedral in Damascus

On April 20th morning, the Easter Mass, the Baath, was held at the Mariam Orthodox Cathedral in Damascus, headed by Assistant Patriarch Avram Maalouly.

In a speech delivered on behalf of His Beatitude John X, Patriarch of Antioch and the rest of the East to the Greek Orthodox, Assistant Patriarch Avram Maalouly said:

“Today we pray to everyone ,we pray for all those in pain, the agonized and the hungry … and for those who died of the new epidemic and left. And for the sake of those who watch over their recovery. And for those who work day and night to fight the new epidemic. And for the return of all the kidnapped, including our two brothers, the  Bishop of Aleppo, John Ibrahim and Paul Yazji, who were kidnapped in these days seven years ago. ”

Bishop Maalouli added: “We pray on this blessed day that the Lord will preserve President Bashar al-Assad.We will ask the Lord to crown your life with the hope of the resurrection and light in the winter of time, the spring of his salvation. We hope to always be one hand and one heart, despite the tribulations that affect us.”

On April 19, Syria’s Christian communities, which follow the eastern calendar, celebrated the glorious Easter feast of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Messenger of Love and Peace, by holding prayers and liturgies that were restricted to those in charge of them without the presence of worshipers, in implementation of the precautionary measures to address the Coronavirus.
