Holding presidential elections in Syria is a national constitutional right par excellence

Secretary General of the Campaign for lifting the blockade imposed on Syria, Dr. Samir Abu Saleh, has stressed that the forthcoming presidential elections in Syria is a national constitutional right par excellence in accordance with the articles of the Syrian Constitution of 2012 that regulate this electoral process.

In a statement to SANA, Dr. Abu Saleh said that the Syrian People’s Assembly has called for holding these elections with the aim of starting a new presidential term according to the constitution which provides for conducting this presidential electoral process after the end of the previous presidential term.

 Dr. Abu Saleh affirmed that the Syrian people are so optimistic and enthusiastic in holding these elections to express their renewed national stance that has been evident in the years of war. He pointed out that the presidential elections will enter a new phase represented in preparing for the candidates’ electoral programs and then the candidates’ electoral campaigns that will be launched in expression of democracy.
