LATTAKIA, (ST)-The Russian Reconciliation Centre in Hmeimim has stressed continuous work as to demine al-Boukamal city after the Syrian army and its allies expelled Daesh terrorist organization from it.
According to the Center’s Chief, Lieutenant General Sergei Kuralenko, the demining process continues in the areas liberated from Daesh in Deir Ezzor.
“Syrian army engineering units have managed to clear the central square in al-Boukamal and they are currently demining the main roads of the town,” Kuralenko told reporters.
He added that “the Russian military police are trying to ensure the movement of citizens along the lines of de-escalation zones and working to provide humanitarian and medical aid to civilians”.
He pointed out that “69 people have returned to their houses in the provinces of Aleppo and Homs over the past 24 hours”.
Russia has supported the Syrian government’s efforts to demine the areas liberated by the army and it continues to provide humanitarian assistance to the displaced people and help them return to their houses.
Russian reconciliation center cannot deliver humanitarian aid to Rukban camp because of US
The Russian Itar Tass news agency quoted Kuralenko as saying that it is impossible to begin humanitarian deliveries to the Rukban refugee camp in Syria because the US side has not submitted to the United Nations documents necessary for that.
“The Russian reconciliation center continues efforts to organize humanitarian deliveries to the Rukban refugee camp. But, despite the earlier agreements with the US force command at at Tanf, the UN has received no consent from the US side, which makes it impossible to begin practical actions to organize humanitarian convoys,” he said.
According to Kuralenko, humanitarian deliveries are to be conducted “in conformity with the requirements of international law.” “Humanitarian aid should be delivered directly to people living in the camp to prevent its seizure by members of terrorist organizations acting in and around the refugee camp,” he stressed.
