Hmeimim air defenses downed drone launched by terrorist organizations

The air defense systems in charge of protecting the Hmeimim base shot down a drone launched by the terrorist organizations deployed in Idlib towards the base in the Latakia countryside.

The Russian Sputnik news agency quoted a source at the Hmeimim base as saying, “The terrorist groups located between the countryside of Latakia and Idlib launched this morning an armed drone that tried to approach the base, but the air defenses responsible for protecting it quickly shot it down before it reached the base’s campus.”

The source indicated that no injuries or material damage was recorded as a result of the accident, and that the Hmeimim base continues to operate normally.

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on the 27th of last month that the air defense systems in charge of protecting the Hmeimim base had shot down a drone launched by the terrorist organizations deployed in Idlib towards the base.

Over the past months, air defenses thwarted dozens of attempts by terrorist groups to attack safe areas and villages in the countryside of Lattakia and Hmeimim base using drones carrying bombs and rocket-propelled grenades from the depth of their deployment area in Idlib and Latakia countryside.
