Hijazi: Organizing of Labor in Economic Sectors

DAMASCUS , (ST) – Minister of Labour, Dr. Hassan Hijazi, underlined that his ministry will work on the regulation of employment in all economic sectors including who working in the shadow economy, pointing out that the ministry will issue a law in the coming period.

 “During a seminar was organized by the Faculty of Economy about the Ministry’s vision for employment issues, labor laws and workers that the ministry will focus in the future on interest  in Syrian employment inside and outside Syria in terms of training and qualification to become at competitive level with their counterparts in neighboring countries which increases the size of the financial remittances to the country and investment in human capital in addition to signing international agreements concerning the Syrian employment,” the minister pointed out.

He also noted to the need to develop operational policies so as to take interest in levels and quality of education at all levels by focusing on vocational education and training programs for students to raise their professional standard, enter the labor market, the establishment of special generating  projects.

The minister stressed  the need to develop policies, laws and legislation to be able to attract investments, promote small and medium enterprises, safeguarding the rights of workers and employers alike.

Participants stressed the importance of the development of labor legislations in the private sector so as to be more attractive to job seekers and networking with other bodies, training institutions and to benefit from successful experiences in some countries in this regard.
