Damascus (ST) –Minister of Health Hassan Al-Ghabbash on Monday discussed with the Director of the UN Office for Project Services in Jordan Muhammad Othman Akram ways to enhance cooperation with regard to responding to the earthquake disaster and supporting the immediate needs of the Syrian health sector.
During the meeting held in the Ministry building today, Dr. Al-Ghabbash stated that the relationship between the UN office and the Ministry is an old one, and its support is not limited to the earthquake disaster, as coordination is carried out on a permanent basis.
He indicated that the earthquake greatly affected the health sector and priorities must be renewed to restore things to normal.
In turn, Akram affirmed the office’s readiness to meet the urgent needs for the health sector and enhance cooperation with regard to funding to support solar energy in hospitals and health centers, in addition to the old projects that are being worked on to restore damaged health facilities to ensure health services for citizens.
