Health Ministry honors Qatari medical team that performed cardiac catheterization and repaired heart defects in children
The Ministry of Health on Thursday honored the Qatari medical team from Hamad Medical Corporation and Sidra Medicine Hospital, in appreciation of its efforts in performing cardiac catheterizations and repairing heart defects in children for free in Syria, as part of the Medical Convoys Project, which is implemented by the Qatar Red Crescent in several countries around the world.
The Acting Assistant Minister of Health Hussein Al-Khatib thanked the Qatari team for its efforts to ease the burdens and reduce the waiting period for patients, by performing many operations free of charge, as a first stage, which is to be followed by another stage.
He pointed out that the team’s efforts have saved the lives of many children and enabled them to get good health care.
For their part, the Qatari medical team confirmed its readiness to provide more support to the health sector in Syria, by following up on the performance of many surgical operations during the coming period, in addition to providing the sector with necessary medical equipment and supplies to perform cardiac catheterization operations.
The honoring ceremony included presenting commemorative shields of appreciation to the team that performed 80 cardiac catheterization operations during the period from the 22nd to the 27th of this month, and repaired heart deformities in children free of charge.
