Health Ministry, Gavi discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation

On July 18th, the Minister of Health, Dr. Hassan Al-Ghobash, discussed with a working group of the Vaccine Alliance “Gavi” the ways of enhancing cooperation regarding vaccines for Covid 19 and other routine vaccines included in the national vaccination program.

Minister Al-Ghubash reviewed the government’s efforts in the vaccination campaign against the Corona virus and the challenges facing the health sector in light of the unjust siege imposed on the Syrian people

Minister Al-Ghubash pointed out that the Ministry has allocated mobile teams to provide vaccines in public places with large gatherings of places of worship, gardens and service institutions, and work is being done in coordination with various international organizations to raise the proportion of vaccine recipients in Syria.

Minister Al-Ghubash stressed the importance of continuing support to secure routine vaccines within the national vaccination program implementing it with the same level and the positive results that it has achieved for years.

For her part, the country director of “Gavi” in Syria, Veronique Meva Vaggs, pointed to the importance of developing a future vision for cooperation between the two sides to secure the necessary vaccine and the mechanism for its distribution.

Veronique Meva Vaggs noted the National Vaccine Program in Syria, describing it as going well at the regional level and the efforts of health workers who work despite the difficult circumstances.

The meeting was attended by the Assistant Minister of Health and the concerned directors from both sides.
