Health Ministry discusses with the King Salman Center and the International Red Cross ways to enhance cooperation

Director of Planning and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Zuhair Karat, discussed with a delegation from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, headed by Suleiman bin Ahmed Al-Tashri, ways to enhance joint health cooperation.

The participants in the meeting, which was held at the Ministry’s building in Damascus, discussed the necessary needs to improve the health sector, secure medical devices and equipment, and develop a clear plan regarding services and assistance.

The mechanism for securing supplies for dialysis patients, renovating health facilities, establishing new health centers, securing specific medicines and anesthesia drugs, and activating the referral system in the ambulance system were also discussed.

In the same context, Dr. Karat discussed with the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross delegation in Syria, Stefan Saklian, and the accompanying delegation ways to enhance joint cooperation in the health field, and the reality of the medical services provided in Syria.

During the meeting held today at the Ministry of Health, the two sides discussed the common topics that are being worked on in a way that contributes to strengthening health support for all governorates, assessing needs, and discussing rebuilding and rehabilitating destroyed hospitals, in addition to discussing new projects under implementation and training health workers.

intensified, especially during the current stage, to provide health and humanitarian services

more broadly.
