Health Ministry discusses cooperation with a delegation from the French Foreign Ministry and “Expertise France”

Dr. Maher Al-Sharaa, Acting Minister of Health, discussed with a delegation from the French Foreign Ministry and “Expertise France” Agency means to cooperate in the health sector, which would contribute to enhancing the quality of health services.

During the meeting held today Dr. Al-Sharaa said that the health sector is in a state of collapse, and it is necessary to coordinate with all countries, organizations, and medical delegations to meet the many needs it lacks, according to priorities.

The two sides discussed the challenges facing the health sector in Syria and prospects for cooperation to advance it, expanding future action plans in various health sectors.

They stressed the need to work together to rehabilitate the infrastructure of health facilities, restore destroyed facilities, secure medical supplies, and equipment, and exchange expertise to enhance scientific and medical competencies and expertise.

The delegation members expressed their readiness to implement joint action plans with the Ministry to develop the health sector.

They clarified that the “Expertise France”, which is the French Agency for International Cooperation, works within the framework of stabilization programs and creating the necessary conditions to end crises sustainably, enhance human security, and support the resilience of affected communities.

The delegation reviewed the role of primary health care systems in promoting public health, affirming the agency’s commitment to continuing cooperation and providing all forms of support to enhance the quality of health services provided to citizens.
