Health Ministry designates Al-Assad University Hospital as a center for receiving suspected coronavirus cases

DAMASCUS, (ST)- The Ministry of Higher Education has designated Al-Assad University Hospital as a center for receiving suspected coronavirus cases and for rendering medical services to those patients for free.

The hospital has been equipped with the necessary medical tools and qualified staff to receive covid-19 suspected cases, according to Hussein al-Mohammad, Director-General of the Hospital, who stressed that necessary protection equipment were also provided to medical staff to keep them safe.

 He added that a well-equipped medical point has been set up at the hospital’s entrance in order to sort out the patients according to their condition, particularly those with symptoms of high fever, cough, sore throat and breathing problems, so as to transfer them to the two designated clinics for accurate testing.

On his part, Dr. Marwan al-Halabi, Member of the Health Ministry’s Central Committee for Confronting Coronavirus, said that a hotline has been specified between the university hospitals in Damascus to help transfer all suspected cases to Al-Assad University Hospital.

Earlier, the Ministry of Health had designated the National Hospital of al-Zabadani in Damascus countryside to be a center for medical isolation and treatment of people infected with the novel Coronavirus.
