Damascus (ST): The Ministry of Health announced today that the cumulative number of cholera cases confirmed by rapid testing in the country has risen to 757, distributed in Aleppo 477, Deir Ezzour 130, Hasakeh 60, Raqqa 29, Lattakia 23, Sweida 13, Hama 7, Homs 6, and Damascus 8, Daraa 3 and Quneitra 1.
According to a ministry statement, the cumulative total number of deaths from cholera reached 41, in Aleppo 34, Hasakeh 4, Deir Ezzour 2 and Damascus 1.
The ministry indicated that most of the deaths were caused by the delay in seeking early medical advice, or by people suffering from chronic diseases.
The ministry called for the need to follow public health procedures, which are washing hands with soap and water frequently, drinking water from a safe source, and if it cannot be found, it can be boiled for two minutes, then kept in a clean and closed container, washing fruits and vegetables well, cooking food and keeping it at the appropriate temperature, and not to drink or eat anything of unknown origin or whose safety is suspected, and to seek early medical advice if an infection is suspected.
