Health Ministry: 594 confirmed cases of cholera and 39 recorded deaths

Damascus (ST): The Ministry of Health announced today that the cumulative total of cholera cases confirmed by rapid testing in the country has risen to 594, distributed as follows :  Aleppo 386, Deir Ezzor 84, Hasaka 45, Raqqa 26, Latakia 21, Sweida 9, Hama 7, Homs 6, Damascus 6, Daraa 3 and Quneitra 1.
According to a ministry statement, the cumulative total number of deaths from cholera reached 39, in Aleppo 34, in Al-Hasakah 3 and Deir Ezzor 2.
The ministry indicated that most of the deaths were caused by the delay in seeking early medical advice or by people suffering from chronic diseases.
