Health: 253 confirmed cases of cholera and 23 recorded deaths

Damascus (ST): The Ministry of Health announced that the cumulative number of cholera cases confirmed by rapid testing in the country has risen to 253, distributed in Aleppo 180, Deir Ezzor 29, Al-Hasakah 25, Latakia 13, Homs 4 and Damascus 2.

According to a ministry statement, the total number of deaths from cholera was 23 in Aleppo, 20 due to the delay in seeking medical advice, Deir Ezzor 2 and Hasaka 1.

The ministry indicated that it is carrying out epidemiological surveillance of the disease around the clock, investigating suspected cases and samples, giving preventive treatment to those in contact, and taking appropriate measures to contain the disease in cooperation with the concerned authorities.

The ministry also pointed out that a unified treatment protocol has been adopted and circulated, which is available in all its forms, and hospitals are being strengthened and provided with an additional stock of treatment and supplies in anticipation of any increase in the number of limited cases so far.
