Head of the Emirates Red Crescent delegation: We will continue to work in solidarity with the brotherly Syrian people

Lattakia , (ST) – The Head of the delegation of the Emirates Red Crescent, Dr. Muhammad Al-Kaabi, affirmed that the work continues around the clock in solidarity with and support for the brotherly Syrian people. He stressed that this is a duty towards the Syrians and towards humanity in general.

Al-Kaabi said in a press conference in the auditorium of the Health Directorate in Lattakia to explain the Operation ” Al-Fares Al-Shahem (The Gallant Knight 2), which was launched 70 days ago following the earthquake that struck Syria on the sixth of last February: “The support of the United Arab Emirates to Syria doesn’t end at airports. The UAE sent men, provided expertise and distinguished national cadres”.

He congratulated the Syrian people on the occasion of Evacuation Day.

Al-Kaabi added that the total aid provided to Syria amounted to more than 10,000 tons, including 176 cargo planes and 3 cargo ships, amounting to 5,688 tons via the air bridge, and 5,429 tons via the sea bridge. The aid varied between supporting the education sector by providing bags and stationery, supporting the health sector with medical aid, providing psychological, material and moral support to the sick and the needy, and supporting Ramadan initiatives, Eid clothing and zakat Al-Fitr.

The head of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent branch in Lattakia, Samer Awsta, gave a presentation on the joint work with the Emirates Red Crescent and the facilitation provided to the activities of the “The Gallant Knight 2” mission in the governorate to directly assist the affected families and needy people.

For his part, the Director of Health in Lattakia, Dr. Hawazen Makhlouf pointed out in his speech that the UAE has always played a leading role in humanitarian and charitable work, and that its support for Syria confirms the depth and strength of the relationship between the two brotherly countries.
