Head of Crimea Republic: Syrian People Only to Determine Future of Their Country

YALTA– Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov said on Sunday that the Syrian people alone are to determine the future of their country.

Interviewed by SANA correspondent in Moscow on the sidelines of the International Media Forum opened today in Yalta, Aksyonov added that all peoples have the right to choose their political leaderships and no party has the right to interfere in the internal affairs of independent sovereign states.

He highlighted Russia’s continued efforts to help peoples of the world to defend the homeland and protect their sovereignty and dignity.

According to SANA, Head of Crimea added that those who waged the war on Syria are representatives of the US companies which attempt to dominate and control other states and loot their natural resources such as oil and gas regardless of the interests of their peoples.

He also condemned the US-led coalition airstrikes against the Syrian military positions, expressing absolute rejection of such attacks.

For her part, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stressed that the US-led coalition airstrikes against the Syrian Arab army posts are illegitimate and violate the principles of international law regardless of their alleged objectives.

She added that the ministry has submitted tangible facts and accurate numbers of civilians who were killed in those aggressive attacks.

Zakharova regretted the regional and western countries’ continued attempts to protect the armed groups and provide political, media and financial support to them.
