Cardinal Dominic Duca, head of the Catholic Church in the Czech Republic, called on the European Union to act and prevent the regime of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan from blackmailing EU countries and putting pressure on them.
Duca said in an interview with the Czech Parliamentary Papers website that he “follows Turkey’s foreign policy and believes that it is trying under the current regime to revive the Ottoman Empire and return to what happened in the eighteenth century,” noting that failure to address these attempts means that Europe will return politically to a state unacceptable by its people.
For his part, the Czech political analyst Martin Koller criticized NATO’s failure to confront the Turkish regime’s policies, warning that “this regime, with its aggressive practices, does not now represent a threat to Cyprus and Greece only, but to the whole of Europe.”
